Posh 2 – 1 Crystal Palace

With the whole country expecting Posh to get stuffed this season (including most of the regulars in the forum) it came as no surprise when Sean Scannell put the visitors in front. However, like a wounded Badger being rounded upon by a group of angry Welsh farmers Posh fought back. Palace were unable to cope with the pressure in the second half, without a fine performance from Speroni they would have been dead and buried by half time but as it was Crystal Palace held on into the break. It was McCann who finally beat the Italian keeper with a sweet shot from outside the area, his 5 consecutive competitive goal. Still Posh pushed forward and with less than 20 minutes to go, a Ball header sealed the win.

This may well prove to be the most important match of the season. Part of the problem 2 years ago was a slow start which quickly knocked the players self-belief and sent us to a spiral of despair. This time we’re off flying and might just string a few results together….. of course my well trained Posh supporting brain says we’ll probably stall our momentum by losing to Stevenage in the league cup on Tuesday. Who knows what will happen? That’s part of the joy of following Posh.
