The right man for the job?

The right man for the job?

Another match, another defeat. Surely now the question is not ‘can Mark Cooper keep us up?’ but ‘can Mark Cooper build a team good enough to win League One?’

That is certainly up for debate. Have your say in The London Road End.

Off, off, off, off

Off, off, off, off

Nine-man Posh were beaten by a dirty, niggly Derby side today. Which is a shame, because up until the dismissal of Craig Morgan for a rash challenge on DJ Campbell, Mark Cooper’s new look Posh side looked more than a match for the visitors.

New signings Kerrea Gilbert, Reuben Reid, Izale McLeod and Jake Livermore all started, and Livermore in particular impressed – even if he did look a tad too casual at times.

Ryan Bennett was the second player to be sent off, for tripping that man Campbell, conceding a penalty in doing so. The penalty was converted and Posh faced a second half two men down, against a team determined to push the rules to breaking point, and with a referee who was, at best, staggeringly woeful.

Sheffield Wednesday away on Saturday falls under the ‘must-win’ banner – but don’t they all these days? We’re fast running out of these ‘winnable’ games and with Bennett and Morgan suspended and Zakuani’s injury problems dragging on longer than expected, it looks like Exodus will be returning. Can we stay up? It doesnt look good.

Wholl go down first? Redknapp or Posh?

Who'll go down first? Redknapp or Posh?

Posh were tactically, physically and everything-elsely outclassed at White Hart Lane today. Only a stunning performance from Joe Lewis saved Mark Cooper’s team from being on the end of a Wigan-style hiding. Were you there? Bit of a let-down, wasn’t it? Still, at least, as the old cliché (or is that quiche?) goes, we can concentrate on the league, now. In other news, over Christmas we lost at West Brom and then scraped a dull score draw against Cardiff. Or so I’m told, I wasn’t there…
